In Customer Insights, the home page (the page you see when you first log on to the application) looks something like this:

On the right side of the page you'll see the sidebar (labeled CI Announcements), which is reserved for links and announcements. Near the top of the sidebar is a button labeled Browse Reports; click that, and a new tab opens up to the Shared folder. (Very handy for anyone who's gotten used to working in that space.) You’ll also see a link to the Customer Insights documentation, and, from time-to-time, notices about such things as upcoming webinars or new Dashboards.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll see the latest browsing activity for both yourself (right) and for the group you belong to:

Can’t remember the name of that Dashboard you and a colleague were just looking at? Well, maybe you don’t have to remember the name after all.

In addition to opening when you first log on to Customer Insights, the home page can also be accessed by clicking Home, or by clicking the Akamai logo in the upper-left corner of the screen:

Perhaps the easiest way to move through Customer Insights is to use the Browse menu, which provides links to perspectives and key spaces such as the Shared Space and your personal space:

From the Browse menu you can access the following locations:

  • The Customer Insights home page
  • The Customer Insights Popular perspective
  • Customer Insights Favorites
  • The Customer Insights Recently-viewed perspective
  • The Customer Insights Shared perspective
  • Your Customer Insights Personal folder
  • The Customer Insights People folder

Tip: Tile view and List view

Several of the Customer Insights spaces feature an icon that looks like this:

This icon enables you to toggle between list view and tile view. In list view, items are displayed in, well, a list:

Click the icon, however, and items are displayed in tile view instead:

Oh, and note that the icon changes shape when you switch to tile view:

So what’s the difference between list view and tile? To be honest, the difference is largely a matter of aesthetics. For example, in list view you’ll see a gear icon next to each item; click that icon, and – depending on your space permissions – you’ll have several options available to you:

And what if you’re in tile view? In that case, simply hover the mouse over an item. Do that, and you’ll see the same gear icon, and the same set of options:

List view? Tile view? It’s all a matter of taste.
