​Akamai​ is expanding its services to new data centers around the world. Each new data center is subject to a beta period during which a limited set of customers can deploy to it.

This guide walks you through the details you'll need to configure and run workloads in a new data center while it is still in beta.

Keep in mind:

• Capacity in new data centers may be limited while we continue scaling resources.
• Beta environments can change while we refine and expand them.
• Running production workloads is NOT recommended during the beta period.

Deploy services to a data center

Follow these steps to target one of the new data centers when deploying a service:

• Cloud Manager: In the Region dropdown menu, select the data center you'd like to use.

• Linode CLI and Linode API: If your command requires a region ID, choose the one that matches your target data center from the table above.

You need to be enrolled in the beta to target a beta data center. If you're already a beta participant but can't target a beta data center, contact the Support team for help. Access is granted per data center, so you'll need to request access for each one you want to use during beta.

Pricing

During the beta, services you run in these data centers are free of charge.

When the beta period ends for a data center, standard billing begins for any services you have deployed there. You'll get an email ahead of time letting you know the billing start date.

Product availability

Each new data center will support most ​Akamai​ cloud computing services during the beta, or shortly after the beta period begins.

Object storage

Object storage is available for Paris 2.

IP sharing and failover

Beta data centers support IP sharing and BGP-based failover. You can configure this on both IPv4 addresses (public and private) as well as IPv6 routed ranges (/64 and /56). To set up failover, you can use lelastic, Akamai's own software, or software like FRR, BIRD, or GoBGP. For more information, see the failover documentation.

Lish gateways

Lish and Glish let you connect directly to your Linodes without needing SSH or a VNC. To learn more, see Access your system console using Lish.
