Managed Databases is now available with the Premium plan. The new Premium plan is designed for a resource-intensive use cases. It removes the unpredictability of shared infrastructure by offering exclusive access to the latest hardware and system resources, optimized for intense and sustained workloads. July 15, 2025 – Akamai Cloud Pulse in Beta
Akamai Cloud Pulse Metrics and Alerts are now available in Beta for the Databases service. Akamai Cloud Pulse delivers real-time insights into the performance, availability, and reliability of your cloud entities and infrastructure. Jun 30, 2025 — NodeBalancers now supports backend Linodes in VPCs
You can now configure backend Linodes within a VPC to serve NodeBalancer traffic. Communication between the NodeBalancer and backend nodes takes place over the VPC network.
June 25, 2025 — LKE updates
This release includes updates to the Kubernetes versions and drivers used in LKE (non-enterprise).
June 18, 2025 — LKE Enterprise updates

June 5, 2025 — LKE Enterprise launched (in limited availability)
LKE Enterprise, Akamai's new enterprise-oriented managed Kubernetes offering, has been released as part of a limited availability launch. When compared with the standard LKE offering, LKE Enterprise supports more worker nodes (500), more pods (5000), includes dedicated control plane resources, among many additional enhancements and features. May 21, 2025 — Managed Databases enhancement
Managed Databases now support self-serviceable advanced database configuration. The configuration enables fine-tuning of various aspects of a database system beyond basic setup: optimizing performance, security, and scalability. Advanced database configuration will be supported in UI, API, CLI, Terraform, and SDKs. The parameters are applicable to both MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
May 20 — Object Storage quotas
Object Storage quotas are now generally available. Quotas aim to ensure efficient resource allocation and provide predictable usage.
May 6 — Object Storage quotas (Beta)
You can now view the Object Storage quotas applied to your account. Quotas are usage limits put in place to help ensure efficient resource allocation and system stability. You can view your quotas and usage in Cloud Manager or using the API.
