Configure firewall rules to allow access for Linode Managed
As a Linode Managed customer, you may need to add or modify your firewall rules to allow access from our infrastructure. By following this process and configuring SSH access for Linode Managed, you let our Support team log in to your system and troubleshoot issues. Our infrastructure can also perform the checks configured on your monitors. The exact procedure varies based on the firewall software you're using.

ICMP ping checks determine connectivity for the machine hosting the service. To add an ICMP rule to your firewall, follow the instructions below:
- In Cloud Manager, navigate to the Networking tab and click Firewalls.
- Click the firewall attached to your Linode.
- Within the table, navigate to the rule related to your managed Linode and click Clone. The newly cloned rule will appear at the bottom of the table.
- Edit the new rule by clicking the Edit button.
- In the Protocol dropdown, replace TCP with ICMP.
- Click Add Changes.
- Click Save Changes at the bottom of the Rules page.
