View an alert definition
An alert definition specifies the conditions under which an alert is evaluated and triggered. It describes what is being monitored, how it's evaluated, and when users should be notified. It describes what is monitored, how it is evaluated, and when users are notified. An alert definition defines the metrics, threshold criteria, evaluation logic, monitored entities, and notification settings.
Alert definitions can be accessed using Cloud Manager or the Linode API.
Alerts are currently in beta for the Databases service. Support for additional services is planned for future releases.
To view an alert definition in Cloud Manager:

Log in to Cloud Manager.

Expand Monitor in the main menu, and select Alerts.

Open the Definitions tab to view the list of configured alert definitions. This list includes both system alerts and user alerts.
For each alert definition, the summary details include:
- Alert name
- Alert status (enabled, disabled, in progress, or failed)
- Akamai Cloud service the alert applies to
- Creator of the alert ("system" or a specific user)
- Last modified time
A status of In Progress indicates that the alert has been created but the system is still applying the configuration. A status of Failed means the alert configuration has encountered an error. Contact Support for assistance.

Use the search, filter, and sort tools to find the alert definition you want to view.

To open an alert definition, click the alert name or selectShow Details from the options menu.

Review the full alert configuration, including:
- Alert Criteria
- Monitored entities (only the entities you have permission to access are shown)
- Notification channels
