Distributed Compute Region features and services
This topic is specific to distributed compute regions. If you are looking for information about supported features and services in core compute regions, see Choose a data center
Distributed compute regions support essential features and services for building highly available edge native applications across a growing distributed footprint. The list of supported services is expected to grow over time.
Services like Block Storage, Object Storage, and Backups are not directly supported in distributed regions, but can be leveraged as part of a larger distributed ecosystem. When state or storage is a key component of your application, distributed regions can seamlessly reach back to core region deployments of such services.
Custom images can be deployed to Compute Instances in distributed regions, but must be stored in a core regions. See the Region and images section of the Images overview for more information.
