Endpoint types

All Object Storage endpoints have a defined endpoint type of E0, E1, E2, or E3. These endpoint types define the performance, quotas, and limits when working with content stored on an endpoint. More details about the performance, quotas, and limits for each endpoint type can be found on the Limits and Quotas page.

  • Standard endpoints (E2, E3): Standard endpoints offer the highest performance and scale built on our latest hardware and software platform. All new capacity expansion, performance improvements, and features will be introduced on the E2 and E3 endpoints.
  • Legacy endpoints (E0, E1): Legacy endpoints are built on the previous generation of the Object Storage platform. These endpoints have lower limits and quotas than standard endpoints. There are no plans for further capacity expansion, performance improvements, or feature enhancements on legacy endpoints.

📘

All new customers or projects should start with the standard endpoints (E2 or E3) to take advantage of increased performance and new features. Access to endpoints that are in Limited Availability (LA) can be requested through a support ticket.

Supported features by endpoint type

The table below covers the differences in feature support between endpoint types. If a feature is not listed in the table, it is supported by all endpoints.

All new features and performance improvements will only be released on E2 and E3 endpoints. As a result, the capabilities of the standard (E2, E3) will grow over time while the legacy endpoints (E0, E1) will not receive new capabilities.

*The Cloud Pulse Metrics and Cloud Pulse Logs features for Object Storage are currently in limited availability. Access to these features can be requested in a support ticket.

** For static website support, we recommend using the CDN to gain the security and performance benefits the CDN offers vs. hosting a website directly from Object Storage.

Supported endpoint types by region

The following table lists each Object Storage enabled region along with the supported endpoint types and the list of endpoints for that region. Most regions support a single endpoint type and contain just one endpoint, though some regions contain multiple endpoints and/or support multiple endpoint types.

As we launch new data centers and continue to add capacity, some endpoints may be initially released in limited availability (indicated by "LA*" in the table below). Access to any of these endpoints can be requested through a support ticket.
