Set Variable behavior

The Set Variable behavior is part of the overall variable support system in Property Manager that lets you create complex properties without calling your support representative to implement advanced metadata.

When you initially create a variable, you have the option of populating a default value. This default value is further editable in the Set Variable behavior. In cases where you chose not to enter a default value, the Set Variable behavior lets you populate a variable with values derived from different data sources, and then manipulate those values with transformations. To add a Set Variable behavior to a rule, see Behaviors

📘

The Set Variable behavior is for User-defined variables. You can achieve similar results for built-in variables by matching directly on an object represented by a variable. For example, you can match directly on a path, so there is no need to match on AK_PATH.

You can populate a variable by creating a value from an expression, extracting a value from the incoming request, or generating a random number.
