Segmented Media Streaming - Prefetch
Prefetching sets target media content at the Akamai edge in anticipation of requests by end users. This reduces the delivery time.
Before you begin
For prefetching to work, your origin media’s response needs to specify CDN-Origin-Assist-Prefetch-Path
headers with each URL to prefetch, expressed as either a relative or absolute path.
How it works
When a specific segment in a media clip is requested by a player, you can prefetch the next segment to the edge to expedite its delivery. Prefetching can be applied to HLS, HDS, MSS, and DASH media stream manifest and segment files.
Full usage instructions can be found in the Adaptive Media Delivery documentation.
