Restart a Default DV certificate validation

The certificate status for the Default Domain Validation (DV) certificate you created for your property hostname may indicate various types of deployment failure, such as Failed (LE allow list), Failed (CAA), Failed (Validation), Failed (unknown), or Stalled. To resolve that, you need to fix the underlying problem – for example, Failed (CAA) requires that you correct the CAA record – and then trigger a new validation process.

Once you fix the certificate issue, follow these steps to re-launch a validation:

  1. Create a new property version.
  2. In the Property Hostnames panel, select the checkboxes next to the hostnames you want to revalidate. Click Actions > Edit Selected.
  3. In the CERTIFICATE step, set the Automatically request certificates toggle to Off. Click Next and Submit.
  4. Activate your property version on staging and, after testing, on production.
  5. Create another property version.
  6. In the Property Hostnames panel, select the checkboxes next to the hostnames you modified in step 2. Click Actions > Edit Selected.
  7. In the CERTIFICATE step, set the Automatically request certificates toggle back to On. Click Next and verify you have the edge hostname set as you initially wished. Click Submit.
  8. Activate your property version on staging and, after testing, on production.
