Use microphone with RDP applications
End users can redirect the microphone on their local machine for using the microphone option in the EAA RDP application.
Enable microphone in the EAA RDP Application
You must enable the microphone option in your EAA RDP application.

Log in to Enterprise Center.

In the Enterprise Center navigation menu, select Application Access > Applications > Applications.

Select the RDP application for which you want to enable the microphone. If you are setting up a new RDP application, see Configure an RDP application

Click the Advanced tab. Go to the Remote Desktop Configuration section.

Enable the Enable microphone setting.
- Save and Deploy the changes.
Set up the local Windows machine for microphone redirection
Prerequisite: You must have a functional sound card with windows audio services running. Windows machines typically have the hardware pre-configured and running. But, virtual servers may require virtual drivers to be manually initialized.
On your local Windows machine, perform these additional steps:
A) Microphone redirection from the RDP host to the client machine must be set up. Perform these steps on the Windows host machine:
- Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services must be running.

services.mscand hit Enter. - Scroll down to check Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services are running.
- Enter
- Enable the policies for Allow audio and video playback redirection and Allow audio recording redirection within the Remote Desktop Session Host settings.
- Enter
Win + r - Type
gpedit.mscand hit Enter. - Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Device and Resource Redirection.
- Check that Allow audio and video playback redirection and Allow audio recording redirection are enabled.
You may need to restart the system for the changes to be applied. Also see Configure audio and video redirection over Remote Desktop Protocol.
- Allow other applications to access your microphone. Under Privacy Settings, enable Allow apps to access your microphone, allowing remote sessions to access your local audio hardware. Also see, Turn on permissions for microphone in Windows.
B) Verify that the microphone redirection is running and is ready to use.

mmsys.cpland hit Enter. - In the Sound window, click the Recording tab.
The device enabled should be Remote Audio.
