To use the ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app as a phone security key, you must pair it with your browser. You can pair or unpair your browser through the authentication prompt.

Check pairing status

1. In the authentication prompt, locate the device card associated with your phone security key and expand it.
2. Review the status of your phone security key:
   1. Paired with browser. Your ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app is paired with your current browser and you can use the phone security key to authenticate.
   2. Not paired with browser. You must pair your ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app with your current browser before you can use the phone security key to authenticate.

Unpair your browser

1. In the authentication prompt, locate the device card associated with your phone security key and expand it.
2. In Choose a method, find your phone security key and click or tap Unpair.

Pair your browser

You can pair your browser and the ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app using a QR code or a manual code.

Pair a desktop browser

1. In the authentication prompt, locate the device card associated with your phone security key and expand it.
2. In Choose a method, find your phone security key and click Pair.
3. If you are using a desktop browser on your workstation, a QR code appears on the screen.
4. Open the ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app on your smartphone or tablet.
5. Tap Scan .
6. Grant camera access if prompted.
7. Point the camera at the QR code on your workstation screen.
   Your browser is now paired with the ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app and you can use your phone security key to authenticate.

Pair a mobile browser on the same device

1. In the authentication prompt, locate the device card associated with your phone security key and expand it.
2. In Choose a method, find your phone security key and tap Pair.
3. If you are using a mobile browser on your smartphone or tablet, a code appears on the screen.
4. Tap Copy .
5. Switch to the app drawer, app library, or home screen and open the ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app.
6. In the ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app, tap Scan .
7. Tap Use a code.
8. In Code, paste the code you copied in step 4.
9. Tap Submit.
10. Switch back to the browser app.
    Your browser is now paired with the ​Akamai MFA​ mobile app and you can use your phone security key to authenticate.
