Use your security key

Before you begin

Self-enroll your security key.

When you try to log in to an enterprise application, you receive a prompt to select the secondary authentication method. As you have already enrolled your hardware or phone security key as your authenticator, you can use it to authenticate.

How to

1. In the authentication prompt, select the security key by clicking Use Security Key.

2. Depending on the type of your security key, do the following:

   • If you're using the hardware security key, insert it into the USB port of your computer.

   • If you're using the phone security key, place your smartphone close to your computer.

3. Depending on the type of your security key, do the following:

   • If you're using the hardware security key, touch the golden metal button on the key.

   • If you're using the phone security key, open the authentication request on your smartphone, and tap Allow to confirm that the login is legitimate.

4. ​Akamai MFA​ displays a confirmation message and redirects you to the required enterprise application.
