Self-enroll your platform authenticator
This authentication factor lets you use device-based authenticators like Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, and Android biometrics. With this setup, you can use your Android smartphone or tablet, iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Windows PC to respond to authentication challenges and get access to protected enterprise apps.
Self-enroll Touch ID on Mac
To learn how to set up Touch ID on your device, refer to Apple's Touch ID documentation.
Before you begin
To use Touch ID with Akamai MFA, you need:
- An Apple device with a Touch ID button:
- MacBook Air
- MacBook Pro
- Apple Magic Keyboard
- A fingerprint enrolled in Touch ID
- A browser that supports Touch ID verification (Safari or Chrome)
- iCloud Keychain enabled on the device

How to

When you are redirected to Akamai MFA on your Mac, in the Set up Multi-factor Authentication dialog, click Enroll a Device.

In Select a device to enroll, click Platform Authenticator.

In Setup a platform authenticator, enter a name for your Touch ID authenticator and click Add.

Your browser prompts you to verify your identity.

Place your finger on the Touch ID button to verify.
You can now use Touch ID on your Mac to respond to authentication challenges.
Self-enroll Windows Hello on Windows
To learn how to set up Windows Hello on your workstation, refer to Microsoft's Windows Hello documentation.
Before you begin
To use Windows Hello with Akamai MFA, you need:
- A computer running Windows 10 or 11
- A PIN set up in Windows Hello
- Alternatively, if you'd like to enroll and authenticate using facial recognition or your fingerprint, you need an infrared camera or fingerprint reader connected to your workstation.

How to

When you are redirected to Akamai MFA on your Windows workstation, in the Set up Multi-factor Authentication dialog, click Enroll a Device.

In Select a device to enroll, click Platform Authenticator.

In Setup a platform authenticator, enter a name for your Windows Hello authenticator and click Add.

In the Windows Security dialog, enter your PIN, scan your fingerprint, or point your face to the camera.
You can now use Windows Hello on your Windows workstation to respond to authentication challenges.

When you are redirected to Akamai MFA on your Android device, in the Set up Multi-factor Authentication dialog, click Enroll a Device.

In Select a device to enroll, click Platform Authenticator.

In Setup a platform authenticator, enter a name for your Android biometrics authenticator and click Add.

Verify your identity by scanning your fingerprint, pointing your face to the camera, or entering your PIN.
You can now use Android biometrics on your Android device to respond to authentication challenges.
