Select one or two interfaces for DNS or HTTP Forwarder data

Complete this procedure to configure whether the DNS Forwarder or HTTP Forwarder uses one or two interfaces for data.

📘

Security Connector as a sinkhole always requires two interfaces. This setting does not modify the number of interfaces for the sinkhole.

The number of interfaces you select determines how the en1 and en2 interfaces behave. The following applies:

  • If you select one interface, the en1 interface is used for inbound and outbound traffic, while the en1 interface is used for the Web Console only.
  • If you select two interfaces, the en1 interface is used for incoming traffic, while the en2 interface is used for outbound traffic. With two interfaces, the Web Console is part of the en1 interface.

To learn more about this setup, see Download and deployment.

To select one or two interfaces for Security Connector data:

  1. In the Security Connector console menu, press 8 or or use the arrow keys to select Advanced and press Enter.

    📘

If HTTP Forwarder is disabled, Advanced may appear as menu item 7.

  2. Press 2 or use the arrow keys to select Configure incoming and outgoing interfaces and press Enter.

  3. Press C to edit the number of interfaces.

  4. Type yes and press Enter to toggle the value. If there is one interface, this step changes the number of interfaces to two. If there are two interfaces, this step changes the number of interfaces to one.

    The Security Connector reboots.
