Go live on production
Activating a policy on the production network makes it possible for your website to use the images and videos optimized by Image & Video Manager.
Before you begin
Make sure you have thoroughly tested a policy on staging according to the best practices for testing before you push it to production.
When activating a policy on production, the Policy Rollout Speed Recommender provides multiple rollout periods to choose from. To help you select a rollout option we've included policy insights about the number of hits or percentage of your total traffic in the last 24 hours.
How to
-
Go to ☰ > CDN > Image & Video Manager.
-
Find the correct contract, policy set and policy.
-
Open the policy in Policy Editor.
-
Click Go Live on Production.
A modal appears prompting you to to select a rollout option.
-
Select one of the following rollout options. The slower rollout options minimize the impact on performance during your policy rollout.
- 7 days activates the policy on production over a period of seven days.
- 3 days activates the policy on production over a period of three days.
- 1 day activates the policy on production over a 24 hour period.
- Now activates the policy on production within the next 90 minutes.
When selecting a rollout option consider the number of pristine images and the frequency of image requests. Selecting a slower rollout helps to keep origin offload higher in the event of any cache re-population.
-
Click Go Live on Production to close the modal.
The policy status changes to pending and an estimated activation time appears. During the roll out phase you will begin to see changes to the images and videos on your site that use this policy. Your customers will not see these changes until the end of the roll out period.
