Media Services Live 4 is being discontinued

​Akamai​ will discontinue Media Services Live 4 in December 2026 and replace it with Media Services Live 5 (powered by Harmonic). Reach out to your ​Akamai​ Account Team to add MSL5 to your contract and begin the migration. See how to migrate and how to use reports. Note that existing MSL4 streams and reports will be deactivated in PORTAL_NAME on or soon after December 31, 2026.

Use Media Services Live (MSL) 4 to provide high-quality streaming media to a global viewing audience. Learn how to:

• Create your Media Services Live streams
• Generate publish and playback URLs
• Configure alert notifications
• View reports

You can access your Media Services Live account on Control Center​.

1. Log in to https://control.akamai.com.

2. From the Control Center menu, click Content delivery > Edge applications > Media Services Live 4.

3. View the MSL streams dashboard. You can use the entity selector on the left to view lists of your live streams and their origins.

4. Click the ellipsis ... at the end of the row for the stream you want to manage, then you can choose:

   • Further Actions. On this page you can set up delivery configuration, log delivery, QoS monitor, and alerts.

   • Reports. Displays the Media Services Live reports for your streams.

   • Clone. Creates an exact duplicate of the stream for reuse, without disrupting the workflow.
