Activation workflows

Overview

In Delivery Manager, environments and service hostname sets are independent components. You can activate them separately or together, allowing you to safely update and iterate on your configurations without impacting unrelated components.

This guide provides steps for initial and subsequent activations. You’ll learn how to activate environments or service hostname sets independently or at the same time.

Activation need-to-knows

Before activating a service hostname set or environment, keep the following in mind:

  • You need to route a service hostname set to an environment for that environment to recognize the set and its service hostnames.
  • You need to validate domains and certificates for all service hostnames in a set before they can be used.
  • After activating a service hostname set, point your service hostnames to edge in your your DNS provider to handle live traffic.
  • Service hostname sets and environments must be activated to the same network to interact. For example, a service hostname set activated to the staging network won’t work with an environment activated only to the production network.
  • Make sure to save any changes to your components and configurations before moving onto activation.
