Manage your mPulse environment with boomerang self-service
mPulse boomerang versions support different performance monitoring capabilities such as page load time and solutions to specific use cases. Use boomerang self-service to get access to the latest features of boomerang, bug fixes, and enhancements with a simple point and click.
What is boomerang?
Boomerang is an open-source, JavaScript library (boomerang.js) that measures and tracks real user measurement (RUM). mPulse uses boomerang.js to measure the performance of your site from a visitor's perspective.
For more information on mPulse boomerang and its implementation, see the following documentation:
For more information on features supported by specific boomerang versions, see the boomerang version feature matrix.
How boomerang self-service can help you manage your mPulse environment
Version values.
mPulse boomerang versions correspond to boomerang releases. When you create your first mPulse app, you can choose either a fixed value (for example, 1.571.0) or the default value (for example, Company or System Default (currently 1.506.0)).
For details on applying these values to your mPulse app, see Apply a boomerang version to your mPulse app.
For details on applying a default value for your company, see Apply a default boomerang version for your company.
Version labels.
To help you choose the appropriate boomerang version, labels appear to the right to denote its type.
Version labels include:
- GA. The Akamai mPulse system-wide boomerang default version. In the absence of any other boomerang default setting, use this version as the default.
- Recommended. When mPulse tenants are created, the default boomerang version in the Company Settings is typically set to the current recommended version.
- Latest. The latest stable boomerang version released by Akamai. Before using this boomerang version, contact your Akamai account team to learn more about it.
- Company or System Default. The current boomerang default version for the company that is set in Company Settings (see Apply a default boomerang version for your company).
This example shows the boomerang version selections that appear in the Boomerang Version menu and the Default Boomerang menu. The check mark indicates that Company or System Default (currently 1.506.0) is the being used for the selected app.
Chart annotation.
When a change is made to a boomerang version, mPulse's annotation feature automatically displays the date and time the change was made, what the version was changed from, and what the version was changed to as shown in this example.
Note
To see annotations, you need mPulse user administrator privileges. For more on annotations, see Note changes in your site's performance.
Audit trail.
To help you track changes, mPulse's auditing feature gives user administrators the option to view of all boomerang version changes. You'll be able to see who made the change, when the change was made, and before and after details about the change as shown in this example.
