Change a DNS record to point to your configuration

The final step for activating the OTA Updates configuration requires changing the existing DNS record to be a CNAME record pointing to your edge hostname.

To change the existing DNS record of your site:

  1. On your authoritative names servers, change the existing DNS records to a CNAME that points to the edge hostname.

CNAME chains must be the same for both A and AAAA DNS records.

  2. In the DNS records, change the Time-To-Live (TTL)/Max-Age parameter.

TTL is commonly set to one day, which means that it takes up to one day for your end users to be directed to the edge network.

You can switch your application to the edge network at any time after completing the activation steps and testing.
