Welcome to Adaptive Media Delivery

Adaptive Media Delivery (AMD) is optimized for adaptive bit rate streaming to provide a high-quality, secure viewing experience across a broad variety of network types‚ÄĒfixed or mobile‚ÄĒat varying connection speeds. Built on the ‚ÄčAkamai‚Äč Intelligent Platform‚ĄĘ, AMD provides superior scalability, reliability, availability, and reach.

AMD securely delivers prepared, pre-segmented HTTP-based live and on-demand streaming media.

Before you begin

Set up AMD

Follow these phases to get set up with a new AMD property.

  1. Create a new AMD property. Quickly create a new AMD property in Property Manager.

  2. Define Property Hostnames. Associate the domain for your streaming media with an ‚ÄčAkamai‚Äč domain, so requests for it resolve to the ‚ÄčAkamai‚Äč edge network where your media is cached.

  3. Define Property Configuration Settings. Set up best practice delivery features to streamline and protect your content.

  4. Finalize your AMD property. Do a few final things in and out of your Adaptive Media Delivery property to get ready to test it.

Optional features and tutorials

You can include several optional features and use case-specific workflows in your Adaptive Media Delivery property. See the Optional features section for detailed tutorials.
