Implement API Gateway

The process for setting up an API configuration at ​Akamai​ includes two flows: one for completely new customers, and another for customers who already have a digital property, and whose origin hostnames are associated to edge hostnames.

Depending on your needs, follow one of the instructions below.

Set up an API configuration from scratch

1. Tell edge servers how to find your origin server.

2. Optional: Establish an SSL certificate in Certificate Provisioning System.

3. Add permissions to a user role.

4. Create a property.

5. Configure your property's hostname settings.

6. Add API Gateway to your product.

Add the API Gateway to an existing configuration

1. Add permissions to a user role.

2. Add API Gateway to your product.
