Add protections from Asset Inventory
Asset Inventory only supports setting up protections for assets that have been previously onboarded to the Akamai platform.
You can add baseline protections for your assets directly from Asset Inventory. To add baseline protections for an asset:
- Navigate to Asset Inventory.
- Click the asset in the list view to open its details window.
- If the asset is hidden, click Unhide asset. Once the asset is non-hidden, you can follow Asset Inventoryās recommendation to protect it within the details window.
- Under Protection, where it shows that your asset is not protected, click Add protections. This opens a wizard so you can apply a set of base protections to the selected asset.
- Select an existing security configuration or create a new one. Asset Inventory highlights a recommended option based on the asset you selected.
- Select an existing security policy or create a new one. Asset Inventory highlights a recommended option based on the asset you selected.
- If the policy is new, enable or disable the listed protections.
- Click Continue to proceed to the deployment page.
- Enter at least one email address to receive updates on asset deployment.
- Click Deploy to deploy the asset.
- After deployment to staging and production, youāll be prompted to test the asset. Follow the provided testing instructions.
Bulk add protections
Only the hostnames connected to the selected assets are set up with protections. To finish setting up protections for API assets, youāll need to update your API definitions.
To add protections for multiple assets at a time:
- Use the asset type dropdown to filter by hostname or only API asset type. Select the assets you want to set up with protections. You cannot set up both hostname and API assets at the same time.
- From the Bulk actions dropdown in the top right of the list view, click Add protections.
- If your Akamai account protects assets across multiple contracts, select the contract and group belonging to your selected assets. To find contract and group information for your asset:
- Log in to Akamai Control Center.
- In the search bar, type the hostname of your asset. The hostname and its group appears under Properties.
- Click the property name, which directs you to its property details page.
- Under Version History, click the version link. The propertyās contract appears under Property Version Information.
- Follow the steps above for setting up protections for an asset. Any selected assets that do not match the contract and group provided will be excluded from setup.
