Create a configuration
You can use Property Manager to enable Edge IP Binding when defining a property hostname. See the topics in the Create Edge IP Binding in Property Manager category of these docs for specific instructions. Once you're done with this process, and your property is live on the Akamai production network, you can view, edit, and delete your configuration in the Edge IP Binding tool.
Selecting IP Type for EIPB Configurations
When creating an EIPB configuration, select the desired IP type. By default, a dual-stack configuration is created. To use only IPv4 anycast addresses, select IPv4 during creation. If a dual-stack configuration is created, IPv6 cannot be disabled later.
Custom Edge IP Binding configurations
When you use the self-service method to enable Edge IP Binding via Property Manager, all relevant settings are applied by default. If your environment requires unique settings, you can work with your account representative to create a custom configuration.
We recommend that you use Property Manager. Working with an account representative to create a custom configuration may accrue an additional cost.
The settings that can be customized
See Edit an Edge IP Binding configuration for details on the kind of settings that can be customized.
Custom configurations need to be added
When your account representative sets up a custom Edge IP Binding configuration for you, it's actually a unique, separate entity. It needs to be applied to an applicable property hostname in Property Manager. Once you can see your custom Edge IP Binding configuration here in the Edge IP Binding tool, follow these steps:
-
In the Edge IP Binding tool, select ... > View and make note of the following:
- The "EIP Binding Host" name.
- If Is Secure - Enabled is set.
- The IP Version.
-
If Is Secure - Enabled was set, you need to create a custom edge certificate using Enhanced TLS, and wait for it to complete provisioning before you can continue.
-
Create a new property in Property Manager.
-
If Is Secure - Enabled was set, set Security Options to Enhanced TLS or Shared Cert in the Property Version Information panel.
-
In the Property Hostnames panel, click Add.
-
Input the EIP Binding Host value in the Add Hostname(s) field and click Next.
-
Set the appropriate IP Version, click Enable Edge IP Binding to enable it, and click Next.
-
If Is Secure - Enabled was set, you need to select the Enhanced TLS certificate you created (Step 2.) and then click Next.
-
Click the edit icon (
) for the Edge Hostname.
-
Enable Select existing and set Filter by IP Version to the noted version.
-
Click the Edge Hostname field and select the one that contains the EIP Binding Host.
-
Click Update, then Submit in the following window. Complete setup of the property, as necessary for your specific needs.
You can work with your account representative to make sure the above steps are completed, but remember that this may require an additional cost.
