Client to Edge

These tools let you primarily diagnose issues in the traffic between a client and edge servers. You can also use these tools for other issues.

Tool	Use this tool to:
User Diagnostic Data	Collect diagnostic data from URL or IP acceleration hostname users experiencing similar issues.
Translate Error String	- Fetch a summary and edge logs of an error using a reference code. - Translate Global Request Number (GRN) generated by the Property Manager's Global Request Number behavior.

Edge

These tools get basic data from an edge server.

Tool	Use this tool to:
Verify and Locate IP (Combined Verify Akamai IP* and Locate IP tools)*	- Verify if an IP belongs to the edge network. - Get information about IP's network and its location.
View Logs (GREP)	Get logs for an edge server IP traffic from either the last 6 or 24 hours depending on the server and traffic conditions.
Get Error Statistics	- Check error statistics for URL or CP code based on the 9-second traffic sample from the last 2 minutes. - Get summary, details, and logs for each error.
Metadata Tracer	Trace metadata for a URL configured in Property Manager.
ESI Debugger	Test and debug your web page, just by providing its URL.

Edge to Origin

These tools let you primarily diagnose issues in the traffic between an edge and origin server. You can also use these tools for other issues.

Tool	Use this tool to:
Request Content (CURL)	Get a raw HTML and response headers from locations or edge servers closest to a client.
Test Network Connectivity (MTR)	Verify if the traffic between a specific source and destination suffers packets’ loss or latency. This tool works also for GTM hostnames.
Get Domain Details (DIG)	- Get DNS details for a hostname or domain name from locations or edge servers closest to a client. - Diagnose issues with domain name resolutions. This tool works also for GTM hostnames.

GTM

These tools let you diagnose issues with Global Traffic Management.

Tool	Use this tool to:
Map Diff	Check changes between the two maps for a given domain.
Data Center Diagnostics	Check the top five autonomous systems and top five countries mapped to each data center at a point in time, as a percentage of total estimated traffic mapped to the given data center.
IP Diagnostics	Get information about how and why specific name servers were mapped, for a specified Traffic Management property, during a specified time interval.
