Identify and solve problems

If you encounter issues while configuring your Security Notification Settings, check the following common scenarios and solutions.

Failed connection

There are three main reasons why your new webhook won’t save or establish a connection:

  1. The webhook URL is malformed.
  2. The secret token is malformed.
  3. Something went wrong at the server and you can try again after a few minutes.

If after reformatting the webhook URL or secret token the connection continues to fail, contact the Akamai Global Services team. To open a support request, click ? (Help) icon in the top menu bar and select Contact Support.

No alerts received

If you aren't receiving alerts:

  • Make sure your server is able to process variable endpoints. Akamai may append the URL to include a notification ID, so servers need to account for this variability.
  • Confirm that the Status for both the email group or the notification channel is toggled to On.

If you still don't receive alerts after configuring your server, contact support.

Missing permissions

If you cannot add, edit, or delete email groups and notification channels, verify your user permissions or contact your account administrator.

Deleted channels or groups

If an alert stops firing after a configuration change:

  • If an Administrator deletes a channel that was tied to an active alert, that alert loses its destination.
  • Always review the Used in column before deleting any email group or channel to identify alerts that require reassignment.
