Security considerations

The ​Akamai​ Intelligent Platform™ on which the IP Accelerator service runs meets stringent physical, network, software, and procedural security requirements. However, it should be noted that IP Accelerator (IP Accelerator) transports packets, it doesn't authenticate or authorize them, so you should also ensure that appropriate security measures are in place.

Fast-IP Blocking

​Akamai​ Fast-IP Blocking (FIPB) allows you to selectively allow or disallow individual or blocks of IP Addresses. Entire countries can be disallowed. These rules are pushed to the ​Akamai​ edge. Internet traffic from those sources is blocked at the edge, meaning they are never forwarded on to your application origin infrastructure. This filtering capability translates to resource and bandwidth savings and improved security. For more information, see Create a security policy

SSL Encryption

Communications with users of your IP-based applications can be protected with SSL. IP Accelerator will not terminate SSL encryption to accelerate traffic.
