Guardicore Platform Agent rollout process

The rollout process of Guardicore Platform Agent ensures a smooth and controlled deployment of new releases. This section outlines the steps involved in releasing new versions of Guardicore Platform Agent and their availability.

Version support

Akamai often enhances and improves Guardicore Platform Agent. As a result, major and minor versions of the agent, as well as security patches are released.

Guardicore Platform Agent uses this convention for version numbers:

major.minor.patch

where:

  • major is the number that's associated with a major upgrade. A release that changes this number includes new features or significant enhancements. These changes may alter agent behavior or architecture. Typically, a major desktop version is released first for limited availability before it's generally available for deployment.
  • minor is the number that's associated with a minor software release. A release that changes this number usually consists of minor features or enhancements.
  • patch is the number that's associated with a software patch. A patch release usually addresses a security vulnerability or resolves issues with the agent.

Note the following:

  • All major and minor versions of Guardicore Platform Agent are supported for a maximum of 18 months.
  • All new features and patches are included in the latest version of the agent.

Limited Availability (LA)

When a release candidate of Guardicore Platform Agent is ready for testing, it's initially rolled out to a select group of customers who have specific bug reports or feature requests directly associated with that release. The limited availability period lets Akamai closely monitor the performance of the new version and actively work with the customers to address any issues. During that time, you can contact your Akamai account representative and request access to the LA version of the agent.

General Availability (GA)

Once a version is ready for general adoption, it is marked as stable and becomes available to all customers in Enterprise Center.
