Before you begin

If your environment is active and currently serving traffic, create a new version to be able to make changes.

How to

To add a rule to your default rule set:

1. Navigate to your environment’s Rule sets tab.
2. Select Default rule set to expand it.
3. Click the + icon to add a rule. You can also click the ellipsis menu next to the default rule set and select + Add rule.
4. Enter a name for your rule set.
5. Optionally, enter a description.
6. Click Add.
7. Configure the default logic by adding match criteria, behaviors, or nested rules.
8. Once you're ready with all updates, click the global Save at the top of the page.

All rules and settings contained within the default rule set apply to everything served from your origin through Akamai’s edge network unless you explicitly override it with more specific logic in your configuration.
