November 9, 2024 — Enterprise Application Access Updates

Enterprise Application Access (EAA) updates.

Akamai EAA new features

Modern RDP end-user experience. We have introduced a new and improved web RDP experience in EAA. This will be enabled for all new RDP applications or redeployed RDP applications after November 22, 2024. All existing web-based RDP applications will be migrated to this new experience after January 10, 2025.

Remote Desktop Customization at tenant-level and application-level. You can configure Remote Desktop User Preferences, like keyboard language, desktop height, desktop width, and color depth, at the tenant-level and application-level in EAA. The tenant-level settings are inherited to all RDP applications in the account. But, you can override them and customize specific values for a specific RDP application in EAA. This allows the end-user to keep the display settings every time he opens a new RDP session. However, the end-user can Open User Preferences menu in the RDP application and customize display and keyboard settings that persist in browser cookies. This is a beta feature.

Real-time metrics from EAA Connectors using SIEM providers. DataDog SIEM provider can be used to monitor, analyze, investigate any health issue, security incidents, and perform data visualization for your EAA Connectors. This is a limited-availability feature.

Known limitations

  1. Safari version 18 on macOS, released on September 16, 2024, introduced a new behavior that impacts its compatibility with EAA Cliented Access (TCP-type and Tunnel-type client-access applications) and EAA Device Posture.

How will this issue impact your users?

  • Users will not be able to enroll new AZT Clients if Safari 18 is the default browser.
  • Users will not be able to access EAA applications when EAA Device Posture is being enforced if Safari 18 is the default browser .
