Before you onboard new domains or hostnames to ​Akamai​, you must prove their ownership. Use Domain Ownership Manager (DOM) to prove ownership to ​Akamai​ via UI or API.

DOM is a service that prevents unauthorized use of hostnames on the ​Akamai​ network and strengthens security.

Domain validation is initially optional at launch to give you time to familiarize yourself with the process. However, in alignment with industry best practices, it will be progressively enforced over the next several months. Domain validation will become mandatory for all newly onboarded domains. New customers will be automatically enrolled in the enforced mode, while existing customers will transition gradually.

If you use Terraform or CLI to onboard your domains to ​Akamai​, use the DOM UI or API to prove domain ownership. DOM isn’t currently integrated directly into Terraform or CLI, but we’re working to enable this integration in the future.
