In the new DataStream 2 API, you can create streams to monitor delivery (CDN) properties, Global Traffic Management domains, and Edge DNS zones. Each of these stream types is called a log type.
Depending of the log type you choose when creating a stream, each type may support different data set fields, log formats, destinations, and operations available in this API. Learn about these differences in this topic.
Delivery products (CDN)
The delivery stream is the basic log type available in DataStream. You can Create a CDN stream or Edit a CDN stream to monitor traffic on your properties.
Configure a delivery stream to capture logs for a wide range of products, including Adaptive Media Delivery, Download Delivery, Dynamic Site Accelerator or Ion (Standard, Premier and Media Advanced, including Terra Alta Enterprise). For a full list of supported products, see Product integration
Choose from data set fields related to the request-response cycle, including breadcrumbs, cache, geolocation, request header and message exchange data, network performance, and web security, listed in Delivery fields or using the List data set fields operation.
Edge DNS
You can Create an Edge DNS stream or Edit an Edge DNS stream to monitor Edge DNS zones that belong to your contract. This log type is marked as edns
in operation endpoints, such as List streams or View history.
When creating an Edge DNS stream, you can choose from data set fields supported in Log Delivery Service (LDS). You can List data set fields for this log type or check the EdgeDNS fields list.
EdgeWorkers
You can Create an EdgeWorkers stream or Edit an EdgeWorkers stream to capture and deliver debug logs for your EdgeWorkers configuration. This log type is marked as ew
in operation endpoints, such as List streams or View history.
When creating an EdgeWorkers stream, the data set fields are not choosable, and they correspond to the OpenTelemetry (OTel) log fields. You can List data set fields for this log type or check the EdgeWorkers fields list.
Global Traffic Management
You can Create a Global Traffic Management stream or Edit a Global Traffic Management stream to monitor Global Traffic Management (GTM) domains. This log type is marked as gtm
in operation endpoints, such as List streams or View history.
When creating a GTM stream, you can choose from data set fields supported in Log Delivery Service (LDS). You can List data set fields for this log type or check the Global Traffic Management fields list.
