New features and improvements

  • Segmentation updates. Guardicore Platform Agent now supports the following features and enhancements:
    • The Segmentation agent version is now displayed in the menu bar of Segmentation-enabled agents. For the full version number, refer to the Information pane.
    • Segmentation status is now referred to as Network in the agent’s Status pane.

  • Threat Protection (SIA) updates. Guardicore Platform Agent now supports the following features and enhancements:
    • Threat Protection status is now referred to as DNS Firewall in the agent’s Status pane.
    • Password masking is now enabled for the Allow disable action with activation code feature. When disabling Threat Protection in the agent, password masking hides the characters you enter in the disable code field by replacing them with asterisks (*).
    • Threat Protection now displays customized error pages in the web browser when only DNS traffic is forwarded to SIA (SIA Proxy is not enabled).
    • Separate codes are now used to activate, disable Threat Protection, and uninstall the agent. Previously, a single code was required to perform all of the above-mentioned actions. Now, these codes are available:
      • Activation and entitlement codes. These codes let you activate Threat Protection in the agent.
      • Uninstall code. This code lets you remove the agent from the device.
      • Threat Protection disable code. Depending on your SIA policy setting, this code lets you temporarily or indefinitely disable Threat Protection on the device.
    • Zero Trust Client Extensions is renamed as Guardicore Platform Agent Extensions.

  • Access (EAA) updates. Guardicore Platform Agent now supports the following features and enhancements:
    • You can now change the default location of your Access hook scripts. Contact your Akamai account representative to learn more.

  • Client agent changes. In addition to the above changes, note the following:
    • The user interface was revamped to provide better clarity and enhance the look and feel.
    • The default agent installation directories on macOS and Windows have changed.
    • On macOS, the CLI installation config file is renamed as gpa-install.cfg.
    • The gimmelogs log collection tool is renamed as gpactl.
    • When Guardicore Platform Agent is enabled with Segmentation, the user interface theme shifts to Guardicore colors, allowing for easy identification of a Segmentation-enabled environment.
    • The Activity pane is renamed as Status.

Limitations

  • Users enrolling or resetting the Access service in Guardicore Platform Agent using Safari 18 as their default browser on macOS may experience enrollment failures. Additionally, if Device Posture is enabled in the IDP, enrolled users may face Device Posture related failures and quick test failures, resulting in Access timeout errors. The agent may remain stuck in the enrolling state, and the IDP page in Safari may fail to detect the agent with a grayed-out Configure option.
    • Workarounds:
Use alternative browsers. Users may use other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox, or revert to a Safari version earlier than 18.
Disable Upgrade upgradable mixed content feature flag. To keep Safari 18 as their default browser, users can disable the Upgrade upgradable mixed content feature flag in Safari settings:
      1. Go to Safari > Settings….
      2. Navigate to the Advanced tab.
      3. Check Show features for web developers.
      4. Navigate to the Feature Flags tab.
      5. Within the Networking section, uncheck Upgrade upgradable mixed content.
Akamai is actively investigating a permanent solution for this issue and will provide updates as they become available.
  • English is the only supported UI language. Support for other languages will be reenabled in subsequent releases.
