Jun 27, 2023 — Akamai Zero Trust Client - General Availability (GA) Release
We are pleased to announce that Zero Trust Client (ZTC) is now available to all our customers. Zero Trust Client improves upon and combines the functionality of Enterprise Application Access (EAA) Client and Enterprise Threat Protector (ETP) Client to provide a one-stop solution where you can secure access to enterprise applications and protect your network from threats. ZTC brings a unified and streamlined experience to both IT admins and end-users. It features an all-new OTA update mechanism and improved device inventory management. With a single installer and tray bar icon, ZTC delivers an accessible and easy to navigate hub that consists of two components, available depending on the type of your contract:
- Access. It's a secure application access service that lets you protect your applications from Internet threats while giving easy access to your contractors, partners, vendors, and employees.
- Threat Protection. It’s a cloud-based, targeted threat protection solution that safeguards your organization from DNS and web-based threats, enforces authentication and acceptable use policies, and audits user Internet access.
Key features
- A new client software that offers the functionality of EAA and ETP (SIA) clients, managed within a unified and improved UI.
- The installer detects and uninstalls EAA and ETP clients, and migrates your local ETP configuration to ZTC.
- With ZTC, end-users no longer need the standalone ETP and EAA clients installed on their machines.
- A single tray bar/menu bar icon which provides easy access to the client and minimizes clutter in your system tray. The icon lets you quickly identify the current state of the client at a glance.
- Improved troubleshooting capabilities. You can leverage the insights gained from the client’s diagnostics feature to identify and troubleshoot issues.
- Multi-tenant support. SIA customers using the multi-tenant option have access to Zero Trust Client. A tenant administrator can deploy and manage the client, as well as view the Zero Trust Client inventory.
- Zero Trust Client user logs. Client operation logs uploaded by users are available for download from Enterprise Center.
- Zero Trust Client Auto-Upgrade. Zero Trust Client brings forward the SIA Client's auto-upgrade capability. If you are currently using the EAA Client and upgrade to Zero Trust Client, this feature will simplify the process of updating your deployed Zero Trust Clients. With auto-upgrade enabled, you can deploy ZTC updates from Enterprise Center.
- Operating system (OS) notifications. Zero Trust Client leverages OS notifications to convey important messages about the status of the client.
- Enterprise Center for Zero Trust Client. Manage Access and Threat Protection, deploy Zero Trust Client updates to your end-user machines and view your client inventory.
