Single sign-on (SSO) is now generally available (GA) for Akamai Cloud. The new SSO infrastructure provides a uniform, platform-agnostic security layer across existing applications, swift integration with current IDPs, and improved productivity through centralized password management.
Summary of Key Changes
- Federated SSO via SAML 2.0. You can use SAML 2.0 to integrate Akamai Cloud with external federated identity providers (IDPs), such as Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, or Google Workspace. Users log in once to access Cloud Manager, the Linode CLI, and other authorized clients. Note: You need to always sign SAML assertions.
- Emergency access accounts. You can create highly privileged fail-safe accounts. These accounts bypass SSO authentication so your DevOps teams can scale resources or manage firewalls even if your primary IDP experiences a disruption.
- Akamai Control Center. If you already use SSO with Akamai Control Center, it continues to function as an alternative method for single sign-on.
