Image and Video Manager now supports the AVIF image format.
AVIF is a modern image format supported by more than 80% of browsers. AVIF images can be as small as a tenth of the size of JPEGs of similar visual quality, with byte savings of up to 50%.
AVIF support has been rolled out globally as a free upgrade for all Image and Video Manager customers. No action is required to take advantage of this change. You should start to see AVIF as one of the formats being delivered on the Insights Dashboard when logged into your account in Akamai Control Center.
Note: New AVIF images will be generated gradually so as not to negatively impact your cache. It may take a month or more (depending on your cache settings) to start seeing the new AVIF images.
