Feb 17, 2022 — Maintenance update

The Akamai Identity Cloud (AIC) service will have several infrastructure maintenance updates applied on 17 FEBRUARY 2022 starting at 09:00 UTC and ending at 17:00 UTC. All updates will be applied without traffic or service interruptions. However, the last update, scheduled for 16:00 UTC, is specific to the Singapore region and will include a small window of downtime, possibly a few seconds. Users logging in during this time period may experience a brief error and will need to retry their authentication if so.

  • When: 17 FEBRUARY 2022, 09:00 UTC

  • What: During the infrastructure maintenance event, a series of operational updates will be applied to the Identity Cloud platform:

    • The SMS integration with our 3rd party vendor for sending SMS messages will be updated to support additional phone numbers which have been recently allocated to carriers.

    • A DNS networking change will be applied to increase performance and prevent latency. This change will not cause any downtime or disruptions to traffic.

    • A change to the minimum version of acceptable TLS will be applied. Going forward, TLS 1.2 or above will be the only versions supported. This change is strictly related to Social Authentication and has been thoroughly vetted over several months in order ensure this change does not break any customers.

    • The Hosted Login Service, in the Singapore region only, will undergo maintenance to increase the size of its internal storage. The increase in storage will cause a short, ~30 sec downtime, which may cause end users to re-attempt authentication if they were authenticating at that exact time. End users returning to the site will not be impacted, only registration and authentication may see the need to retry.

  • Component Area(s)*: Hosted Login, Registration, Social Authentication

  • Duration/Impact: All updates will be applied without traffic or service interruptions. However, the last update, scheduled for 16:00 UTC, is specific to the Singapore region and will include a small window of downtime, possibly a few seconds. Users logging in during this time period may experience a brief error and will need to retry their authentication if so.

In addition, the Akamai Identity Cloud (AIC) service will undergo a software maintenance update on 17 FEBRUARY 2022 starting at 17:00 UTC. The service will remain operational during this period with no disruptions expected for any AIC service.

  • When: 17 FEBRUARY 2022, 17:00 UTC
  • What: The Authentication Service will undergo a patch to address a defect introduced in the Jan 20th release where in some cases a custom claim value is returned as a string instead of a number.
  • Component Area(s): OpenID Connect
  • Duration/Impact: The service will remain operational during this period with no disruptions expected for any AIC service.
