New features and improvements

  • Guardicore Segmentation. Guardicore Platform Agent now supports the following Guardicore features and enhancements:
    • The Segmentation agent supports Guardicore Segmentation Security Platform v52.3.
    • You can now upgrade to a Segmentation-enabled 7.2.1 or later version of the agent if your current Guardicore Platform Agent installation isn’t set up with Segmentation.
    • You can now upgrade the standalone Guardicore agent to Guardicore Platform Agent without having to first uninstall the standalone agent manually.
    • Guardicore Segmentation is now supported on Windows ARM-based devices.

To set up Segmentation in Guardicore Platform Agent, see the command line installation help page.

  • SIA Threat Protection. Guardicore Platform Agent now supports the following SIA features and enhancements:
    • Packet Capture. When inspecting network packets on protected devices with tools like Wireshark, the tool shows that all network traffic goes to the local proxy. To help you troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues, you can now capture network packets and see the actual destination IP addresses of your traffic. To capture packets with Guardicore Platform Agent, you need to install Wireshark. This feature is available only on Windows and macOS.
    • Enhancement to agent full diagnostic. When a user runs a full diagnostic, the agent now generates additional log files with more information. This information includes installed antivirus software, active network connections, firewall status, network interfaces, system extensions, installed VPNs, Secure Web Gateway (SWG) products, and more. You can find these log files in the probes directory of your full diagnostic log archive.
    • Improved experience for user group policy authentication. If your organization configured policies for directory groups or a collection of directory groups, users are now automatically prompted to authenticate through their browser. In previous releases, users were required to authenticate through the agent. This update applies to users that only have the Threat Protection service enabled.
    • DNS Firewall is now called Threat Protection.
    • Various performance improvements.
  • Enterprise Application Access. Guardicore Platform Agent now supports the following EAA features and enhancements:
    • Hybrid Applications are now supported.
    • Enterprise DNS is now available in configurations without classic tunnel apps.
    • EAA Access Denied notifications. In EAA, you can set up a page that is displayed when a user tries to access an application that they are not authorized to access. With this release, the information you set up to show up on that page is now also displayed as a notification in the agent. This includes the Email, Phone, and Ticket URL fields, as well as the content of your Access Denied Title and Message. Note that Guardicore Platform Agent only displays messages that are in English, Japanese, or Brazilian Portuguese.
    • (Limited availability)Tunnel reuse per application. The agent now supports receiving tunnel reuse settings on a per-app basis from the IdP. You can set up tunnel reuse for your applications in Enterprise Center. Contact Akamai support to activate this feature on your account.
    • Device posture report now includes system architecture (ARM64 or x64) and private IP.
  • General agent changes. In addition to the above changes, note the following:
    • This release introduces a significant overhaul of the agent signal reporting system. The changes are designed to provide more accurate and timely status updates, and reduce noise from transient states.
      • Reporting cadence and triggers. Under normal operating conditions, the agent now sends a status report every 15 minutes. An expedited report is sent immediately upon a major status change (for example, Access state changes to Authenticated) or a log level change. This ensures that critical information is delivered without delay. The 15-minute reporting timer resets after an expedited report is sent.
      • Intelligent state filtering. To minimize sending unnecessary status updates for transient states, the agent now delays sending reports for Access not authenticated and Threat Protection not protected states by 30 seconds. A report is only sent if the state persists beyond this window, indicating a potential problem. The agent now also filters out transient states that occur during normal operations. For example, the initial not protected or not authenticated statuses when the workstation is booting no longer generate a report, unless they exceed the grace period.
      • Rate limit for status reporting. The agent now implements a rate limit. A maximum of 5 status reports can be sent within any 15-minute reporting interval.
    • Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is no longer required to run the agent on Windows.
    • Improved agent stability on Ubuntu.

Limitations

  • Threat Protection, Guardicore Segmentation, and Edge Transport aren’t supported on Ubuntu.
  • Agent installers for Ubuntu and Windows on ARM aren’t available in Enterprise Center at this time. Contact Akamai support to get access to those installers.

Fixed issues

  • Fixed an OpenSSL vulnerability affecting Edge Transport. If you have Edge Transport applications, make sure you update the agent to version 7.2.1.
