Mar 25, 2022 — ETP policy updates now in beta

These policy updates are now in beta. To participate in the beta, contact your Akamai representative.

Allow action now replaces Classify. The Allow action now behaves like the former Classify action. For example:

  • If the proxy is enabled, this action directs traffic to SIA Proxy for analysis.
  • If the proxy is disabled, this action resolves requests to the origin.

This action is available for the Risky threat categories, block lists, and for application visibility and control settings.

New Operating Mode. The Default Action setting for Access Control has been replaced with a new Operating Mode menu. Administrators can now select a specific mode for handling traffic by default. If the proxy is enabled, this is where administrators can select the proxy type. These options are available:

  • Full Proxy. Directs all web traffic to SIA Proxy, except for traffic that’s set to bypass.
  • Selective Proxy. Directs any traffic that matches a configured threat or AUP category to SIA Proxy.
  • Walled Garden. Blocks all traffic unless it’s set to Allow.
  • DNS Protection. Protects DNS traffic based on policy. You can select this mode only when SIA Proxy is disabled.

For more information, see Application visibility and control.

New Mobile Mode. When ETP Client is installed on a mobile device, you can define how traffic is handled for iOS, Android, and Chrome OS devices. You can select Full Proxy, Selective Proxy, or Walled Garden mode for these devices. On Android devices, you can choose the Proxy (Browser) mode to direct only browser traffic to the proxy. For more information, see Mode for mobile devices.
