Jul 17, 2020 — Edge DNS updates

This Edge DNS release includes the following new features and enhancements.

New features

  • Fast DNS to Edge DNS name change. Fast DNS is renamed to Edge DNS to more closely align with the product’s value proposition.
  • Incremental zone transfers. Provides RFC-compliant increment transfer option for secondary zone types.
  • Edit master name servers for multiple zones. Enables you to edit the name servers across multiple zones, eliminating the need to edit each zone to change common name servers.
  • ​Akamai​ Terraform CLI. Provides support for TSIG keys and additional record types and for TSIG keys and SOA, AKAMAICDN and AKAMAITLC records. The simplified CLI supports both Edge DNS and Global Traffic Management.
  • Lego Client Edge DNS Provider. Lego is an Acme client that enables CA registration, generation, and management of publicly trusted SSL/TLS certificates from ACME-capable certificate authorities, such as Let’s Encrypt. ​Akamai​ Edge DNS provider support is available in release 3.9.0.
  • Akamai validated POSH-Acme Edge DNS Support. [POSH-Acme] (https://github.com/rmbolger/Posh-ACME) is a Windows PowerShell module that enables you to generate publicly trusted SSL/TLS certificates from an ACME-capable certificate authority, such as Let’s Encrypt.
  • OctoDNS validation. Allows you to validate OctoDNS support for Edge DNS as a standard OctoDNS provider.

Enhancements

  • Performance improvements. Provides improvements to Edge DNS query and response performance, for example, North American and European Union averages between 4060 milliseconds.
  • Zone list filtering improvement. Enables you to filter the zone list on the Zone list page on ​Akamai Control Center​ by any combination of attributes.
  • ​Akamai​ CLI uses the v2 API. The ​Akamai​ CLI for Edge DNS package now uses the Edge DNS Zone Management API v2.
