Domain ownership validation is a new process that helps us keep your domain safe and prevent unauthorized use of hostnames on the Akamai network.
For every domain you onboard to Akamai, you use the Domain Ownership Manager (DOM) application or API to verify that you are the owner to strengthen security.
Domain validation is initially optional at launch to give you time to familiarize yourself with the process. However, in alignment with industry best practices, we are progressively enforcing it to eventually become mandatory for all newly onboarded domains. New customers will be automatically enrolled for this verification in the upcoming weeks, while existing customers will transition gradually.
