Apr 28, 2026 – Domain Ownership Manager in General Availability

Domain Ownership Manager (DOM) is generally available to all Akamai customers and configured in enforce mode platform-wide. Proving domain ownership is now a required step before any new hostname can be onboarded to the Akamai network.

Every customer on the platform — new and existing — has DOM available in their account by default, with no opt-in or onboarding step required. From this point forward, no new hostname can be configured on Akamai without a successful domain validation. Existing hostnames already on the network are not affected — enforcement applies at the point of onboarding.

DOM directly mitigates a real class of platform abuse — domain squatting, dangling CNAMEs, and wildcard takeover — by ensuring only accounts with proven ownership of a hostname can serve traffic for it.

DOM is accessible through Control Center and the DOM API. Customers onboarding via Terraform or CLI need to complete validation through the DOM UI or API for now — native Terraform and CLI integration is on the roadmap.
