# Add log export to TrafficPeak

You can export ingest logs and origin HTTP server access logs to Akamai's real-time analytics platform, **TrafficPeak**. MSL5 streams logs directly to a TrafficPeak ingest endpoint via HTTPS POST for real-time analytics, dashboards, and alerting.

A TrafficPeak log destination can be configured independently for each MSL5 stream. Note that MSL5 log export to TrafficPeak is available through the API only.

## TrafficPeak Destination APIs

TrafficPeak log destinations can be managed through the **API only**. See the [Log Destination API](https://techdocs.akamai.com/msl5-harmonic/reference/list_log_destinations) for operation details.

### Create TrafficPeak Destination

Use the following API to create a TrafficPeak log destination:

```
POST /api/v1/streams/{stream_id}/log_destinations
```

### Update, Delete, or List TrafficPeak Destination

Use `PUT`, `DELETE`, and `GET` on `/api/v1/streams/{stream_id}/log_destinations/{log_destination_id}` to update, delete, or retrieve a TrafficPeak log destination.

## Configuration

### Log Destination Config Schema

Set `destination_type` to `TRAFFIC_PEAK`. Below is the `log_destination_config` field for `destination_type = "TRAFFIC_PEAK"`:

[block:parameters]
{
  "data": {
    "h-0": "Field",
    "h-1": "Type",
    "h-2": "Required",
    "h-3": "Description",
    "0-0": "`destination_type`",
    "0-1": "string",
    "0-2": "Yes ",
    "0-3": "`TRAFFIC_PEAK`",
    "1-0": "`description`",
    "1-1": "string",
    "1-2": "Yes",
    "1-3": "Description of the log destination.",
    "2-0": "`endpoint_url`",
    "2-1": "string",
    "2-2": "Yes",
    "2-3": "TrafficPeak ingest endpoint URL. Example: \n`<https://demo.trafficpeak.live/ingest/event?table=msl5origin&token={token}>`",
    "3-0": "`username`",
    "3-1": "string",
    "3-2": "No",
    "3-3": "Username for HTTP Basic Authentication. If set, `password` is also required.",
    "4-0": "`password`",
    "4-1": "string",
    "4-2": "No",

  },

  ]
}
[/block]

### Example Configuration

```
{
  "log_destination_id": "d1e2f3a4-b5c6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890",
  "file_prefix": "msl",
  "file_suffix": "logs",
  "frequency_in_sec": 30,
  "log_destination_config": {
    "destination_type": "TRAFFIC_PEAK",
    "description": "TrafficPeak analytics for live stream",
    "endpoint_url": "https://demo.trafficpeak.live/ingest/event?table=msl5origin&token=abc123def456",
    "username": "msl5",
    "password": "••••••••"
  }
}
```

## Batching Rules

Each HTTPS POST contains logs for a **single MSL5 stream**. A batch is flushed and posted when **either** threshold is reached first:

| Threshold         | Value      | Description                                                                      |
| :---------------- | :--------- | :------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Line count** | 1000 lines | Post when 1000 log lines have accumulated. |
| **Time interval** | 30 seconds | Post when 30 seconds have elapsed since the last post, regardless of line count. |
