This update introduces features and optimizations to both the MSL Portal and MSL Origin components. These features enhance user experience, streamline operations, and improve system performance and reliability.

MSL Portal Updates

  • User Interface & Experience
    • Streamlined User Interface: Usage reports, metrics, and audit logs are now consolidated into a new Reports & Logs category for easier navigation.
    • Stream Configuration: You can now configure streams in a “No Archive” mode directly from the UI.
    • Alert Management: Introduced Phase 1 of Origin Alert Management in the UI, that lets you create and view triggered alerts for stream latency and bitrate loss, applicable to specific stream IDs or CP Tags.
  • Access & Security Management
    • SAML-based Admin Role Assignment: Allows Akamai IDP attributes to define administrative roles within MSL5 for enhanced user management.
  • Reporting & API
    • Usage Report Accessibility: Available via the MSL5 API to provide daily updates for ingest GB, ingest minutes, and storage GB, queryable by date, CP Tag, and usage counters.
  • MSL Portal Bug Fix
    • Fixed stream dashboard: to display Origin hostname instead of publishing URL values.

MSL Origin Updates

  • Ingest & Playback
    • Support for DASH MPD with SegmentTimeline template: for instantTV streams.
    • CDN Integration: Origin-Assist Prefetching is now available for Live and Past Event streams, enabling Akamai AMD to prefetch subsequent objects and improve edge cache efficiency.
  • Monitoring & Usage
    • Enhanced ingest usage reporting: Enables the subtraction of soft migration usage from overall ingest usage for accurate billing calculations.
    • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Added a Request ID to all MSL5 Origin HTTP ingest responses to facilitate problem reporting and troubleshooting for customers, with IDs logged locally and in SigNoz.
  • Import Stream API
    • Support to carry Digest Authentication expiryDate.
  • MSL Origin Bug Fix
    • DASH Live2VOD: Fixed incorrect duration in DASH Live2VOD egress for republished event.
