Jan 1, 2023 — Core Web Vitals calculation changes
almost 2 years ago by namadeo@akamai.com
The latest mPulse update changes the calculations for three Core Web Vital metrics to align with industry standards:
- Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)
- First Input Delay (FID)
- Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
The calculations for these three metrics now include zero (0) values in percentile calculations. Prior to this change, percentile calculations (such as the 75th) would only consider values that were greater than zero (0). Now, zero (0) values are included in the percentile calculation.
As a result, calculated percentiles for these metrics might decrease if your data contains a lot of zero (0) values. This will most likely affect the CLS and FID metrics.
