The Visitors report for File Downloads (FD) gives you insight into the users generating your traffic. It tracks unique IP/user agent combinations over time, geographically, and by browser or operating system.

Start by setting up a filter

Use the Filters panel to customize your report. You can set these options:

This report uses unique filters. If you've already set filters for another report's tab in the File Download - Historical reports, you receive a message. You need to modify the filters to view this report.

Date (Required)*. This report presents data for a specific date. Click the field and select the desired one from the calendar. Dates can be selected as far back as 90 days from the current date.
CP Code (Required)*. A content provider (CP) code is a unique identifier we assign to you for reporting, billing, and monitoring traffic served over the Akamai network. Someone in your organization assigns a friendly name to a CP code when it's created—either via a tool in Akamai Control Center or an API, or with the help of your Akamai account representative. This report presents data for a single CP code. Select the desired one from the CP Code drop-down.

User agent strings need to be logged for proper data

If no data is revealed after you apply filters, you need to enable user agent strings for the configurations you've set up with Akamai to distribute your content. This can be turned on using Property Manager in Akamai Control Center, if you have access, or your account representative can turn it on for you. User agent data is only collected from the time this feature is turned on.

The widgets

Each individual content panel in the reporting tabs is referred to as a "widget." Several widgets make up the report in this tab.


Widget	Description
Total Unique Visitors	This top-most widget shows the total number of unique visitors that have accessed your content for the selected day. See, What's a "unique visitor?" for more information and limitations on unique visitors.
Unique Visitors per Hour	Each unique IP / user agent combination per hour, based on the selected date.
Top Visitors	This widget displays the following information for the top unique IP/user agent combination. Domain/IP . This is the domain, if known, and the IP address from which the visitor is requesting your content. Hits . The number of "OK" or successful hits to your content for each top visitor. This number only includes hits to Akamai Edge servers from the end user for successful response codes (for example, 2xx, 3xx, an 0xx). Volume . The amount of bandwidth this visitor is using to request your content. This number includes hits on the Edge server from the end user with successful response codes only (e.g., 2xx, 3xx, 0xx)..
Operating Systems	The operating systems the top visitors are using to request your content. Note: If you see "Unknown" for all visitors, you may not have user agent logging turned on in your property configuration file. Contact your account representative for assistance. Once activated, you'll only see user agent data from the time this logging feature is turned on.
Browsers	The browsers the top visitors are using to request your content. Note: If you see "Unknown" for all visitors, you may not have user agent logging turned on in your property configuration file. Contact your account representative for assistance. Once activated, you'll only see user agent data from the time this logging feature is turned on.
User Locations - Top Countries	The volume of top visitor requests, world-wide, filtered by predominant countries.
User Locations - Top U.S. States	The volume of top visitor requests from the United States, filtered by the states with the most activity. The following information is presented: Initiated . The total number of all visitor requests that were initiated in that state, regardless if they completed or not. Completed . The total number of all visitor requests that completed in that state, regardless if they were successful or not. OK . The total number of visitor requests that completed successfully in that state.
User Locations - Top Canadian Provinces	The volume of top visitor requests from Canada, filtered by the provinces with the most activity. The following information is presented: Initiated . The total number of all visitor requests that were initiated in that province, regardless if they completed or not. Completed . The total number of all visitor requests that completed in that province, regardless if they were successful or not. OK . The total number of visitor requests that completed successfully in that province.

You can modify your filters

Click to further refine the specific data for all widgets in the report. The same options discussed above are available for use.

Download the widget's data

Click the download icon () in a widget to download a comma-separated value (.csv) data file of the report output.
