# Purge media collections

MEDIA COLLECTIONS HAVE BEEN DEPRECATED AND DECOMMISSIONED. This topic hasn't been removed only for archive/reference purposes.

The process for purging a media collection is similar to that for [images](https://techdocs.akamai.com/ivm/docs/bp-purge-image-cache)  and [videos](https://techdocs.akamai.com/ivm/docs/bp-purge-video-cache). Use the image and video purge instructions to guide you, while noting one important difference:

To form the URL of a media collection you need to combine the domain with the special media viewer resource name, and a query string parameter containing the collection ID.

Example:

https://*domain*/product.imviewer?imcollection=*collectionId*
```
