# Configure authentication

To authenticate clients who request software updates you can use JWTs and Mutual Authentication. To complete the configuration you have to configure at least one of these methods. Depending on your requirements, you can configure JWTs and Mutual Authentication for a single property, but you can't mix them in a single request.
