Jun 23, 2021 — AWS emergency update

The Akamai Identity Cloud (AIC) service will undergo an emergency maintenance update on 23 JUNE 2021 starting at 8:00 UTC. Updates will be completed in about 60 seconds sequentially across the European and Brazilian data regions. There are no functional changes that require customer action or awareness.

• When: 23 JUNE 2021, 8:00 UTC

• What: The Akamai Identity Cloud is performing an emergency restart of several services due to an immediate AWS security patch. This patch is mandatory for all AWS ElastiCache servers. Although this presently impacts the AIC Brazil and Europe data regions, Akamai expects further patches to be mandated in other AWS regions in the near future. The details of those activities will be forthcoming.

  The emergency restart is expected to last 60 seconds during which core services for Authentication and Registration will be offline. When complete, users may need to reauthenticate to re-enable their session. We apologize for such short notice and strive to minimize any impact to the availability of the Identity Cloud while complying with AWS emergency infrastructure security patches.
