Jun 5, 2025 — Security Connector 4.1 now available

Security Connector 4.1 is now available for download and upgrade. This release contains new features and enhancements that improve Security Connector operation and user experience. With this update, you can:

  • Deploy Security Connector on QEMU/KVM and Nutanix hypervisors. You can now deploy Security Connector on Quick Emulator (QEMU) / Kernal-based virtual machine (KVM) and Nutanix hypervisors.

If you want to deploy Security Connector on QEMU/KVM, contact your Akamai account representative to get the files you need for this setup. For instructions, see Deploy Security Connector.

  • Deploy Security Connector on a VM with one interface. Version 4.1 now supports deployments with one network interface. While two interfaces are still required for a sinkhole configuration, you can now use one network interface for HTTP Forwarder and DNS Forwarder:

    Note the following:

    • By default, a virtual machine on Azure or AWS has one network interface (en0). If you want to configure two interfaces to better manage traffic flow, you can add an additional network interface to the VM.
    • By default, a virtual machine on VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix, and QEMU/KVM boots with two interfaces (en1 and en2).

To learn more, see About Security Connector.

  • Improvements to HTTP Forwarder. This update now includes various improvements to the HTTP Forwarder engine.
